Biosorra Project Hippo in Murang'a county, Kenya is producing certified biochar carbon removal and providing regenerative agriculture education programs. Using already available agricultural waste from the area, the project transforms it into biochar carbon removal that is used as fertiliser, leading to increased yield for farmers while simultaneously safely storing carbon.

Andes Microbial Carbon Mineralization

Andes utilises Microbial Carbon Mineralization to permanently remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The project is located in the Midwestern US where they partner with farmers to apply microorganisms alongside crop seeds to accelerate the natural mineralization of atmospheric CO₂ in soil. These microbes grow with the crop root resulting in stable minerals that securely store carbon.

CommuniTree

Registered as a certified Plan Vivo project in 2010, the CommuniTree Carbon Program was co-founded by Taking Root and local project implementer, APRODEIN. CommuniTree works with smallholder farmers across Nicaragua to grow trees alongside their existing farming practices.

Charm Industrial converts sustainable sourced wasted biomass into bio-oil using fast pyrolysis. Utilizing repurposed oil infrastructure, they inject bio-oil, a carbon-rich liquid, into underground rock formations where it solidifies, permanently storing the carbon.

Carboneers

In the Odisha and the Assam regions of India, Carboneers has supplied tools and trained 500 farmers on making biochar with the flame curtain pyrolysis technique. Both project areas have been certified by two independent auditors, Ceres Cert and Indocert.
